Our Radiologists are hard-working and dedicated professionals who devote their time and efforts to enforcing our quality patient care and personalized service goals that we strive to achieve.
 Dr. Kumar is President and Medical Director of San Gabriel Valley Diagnostic Center (SGVDC). Dr. Kumar is dual-Board Certified -- by both the American Board of Radiology and by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Kumar completed his residency in Radiology and Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at the prestigious Washington University of Medicine (Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology) in St. Louis, Missouri. While at Washington University, Dr. Kumar was a Fellow at the National Institute of Health and National Cancer Institute (NIH & NCI).
Prior to establishing SGVDC in 1985, Dr. Kumar served as a member of the Radiology Faculty at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology for 7 years. During his tenure there, he contributed and published numerous (35+) articles regarding Radiology research, including many book chapters.
Dr. Kumar was also integrally involved in the original research on PET (Positron Emission Tomography) -- a modality invented and developed at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. Dr. Kumar has also been affiliated with the UCLA School of Medicine, where he was a Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Kumar is also on staff at local area hospitals, close to SGVDC. Dr. Kumar is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society, Society of Nuclear Medicine and The American College of Nuclear Physicians.
What differentiates SGVDC from other outpatient imaging facilities is the academic excellence and expertise Dr. Kumar brings from his career in academics, as well as his time with the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. Unlike other outpatient facilities, all of SGDVC's diagnostic radiology, exam interpretations, exam protocols, technologist training, and equipment and technology acquisitions are based on the high standards associated with academic medical institutions -- under which Dr. Kumar trained. SGDVC is an ACR accredited MRI Facility. He is involved in all aspects of the operations of both facilities.
